It's been a busy week! I attended the Governor's Brightest Stars, where I got to talk with First Lady, Lori Otter, who is a real inspiration to so many young women...including ME! I also met Genevieve Nutting, Idaho's former M8iss Outstanding Teen, and was impressed with her graciousness and poise! She really encouraged me before the Miss Idaho Teen USAQ pageant, with sound advice and comforting encouragment! Than Genevieve! You ARE a "Brightest Star!"
Yesterday, Miss Idaho USA and I had to be at ABC affiliate, KSAW, for a 6:00 am interview! We made it through due to Melissa Paul's professionalism and kindness. Thank you KSAW!
Today, I attended the funeral of a dear friend, Mrs. Alma Heckenlively, who is my calabash "Grandma Great." She lived a wonderful, long life of service to others and was, many years ago, a real Rosie the Riveter! I will miss her very much but know she is in a much better place! Grandma Great always inspired me to serve and also, taught me to be willing to allow others to serve me sometimes. "That takes character," she said.
If you have wondered why you are not happy, or why you get depressed, ask yourself, "How much of my time is spent serving and helping other people..." If you find the ansswer is, "Not much," why not start today?

ReplyDeleteYes! She was so gracious to me when we met at the Gov's Brightest Stars...really a lesson in elegance. As busy as she was, with people waiting to be photographed with her, she gently took time to ask about my experience and encourage me in my goals. I was so impressed and "when I grow up, I wanna be just like her!" :) Thanks for checking in and I hope you will spread the word to others. I hope this will become a sounding board for young women, and men, about issues we face as young people, and Americans and Earthlings! :) Thank you again! I will tell my mommie you :dropped by!"
